Activity 14
 |
Listening Goals |
|
Purpose |
To encourage the mentor to actively listen by asking questions. |
|
Approximate Time |
10 minutes |
|
Resources Needed |
- Both partners |
|
Steps |
The mentor can introduce this activity at any stage in the
relationship. Every time the mentor asks a question during a
discussion, they gain a point. Every time they make a statement
about themselves, they lose a point. The mentor’s aim is to gain
as many points as possible in ten minutes. The mentor might
discuss this activity with their protégé and ask them to record
the number of questions and the number of statements made by the
mentor at random times in the relationship. The protégé is
unlikely to initiate the process.
