Directions to Mercer University
Campus Map
Notes for first-time visitors: The I-285 beltway
around Atlanta is affectionately known as "the perimeter." If
you are coming from south of the city, (or even from east or
west on I-20), you may want to come through downtown Atlanta
rather than going around on I-285; it is a bit shorter in
distance for those coming from the south. (Interstates 75 and 85
are combined through the downtown area and are known as "the
connector.") If
you are coming from the south and prefer to take I-285, you will
cross the I-20 junctions and can follow directions either "D"
(west of Atlanta) or "E" (east of Atlanta) from those junctions.
A. COMING FROM SOUTH OF ATLANTA ON I-75 NORTH
OR I-85 NORTH OR FROM DOWNTOWN ATLANTA:
Continue north through the downtown area on
I-75/85. When the "connector" divides into I-75 and I-85, take
I-85 North. Take Exit 94, Chamblee-Tucker Road/Mercer
University. Turn right at the traffic light (#1) at the end of
the ramp. (The right turn lane from the exit ramp becomes a
lane.) Stay in this right lane. At the next traffic light (#2),
continue straight in the same lane. (An additional lane to the
right is extended following the second light; it is simply a
short-length exit-only lane for Flowers Road.) At the next light
(#3) turn right onto Mercer University Drive. At the next light
(#4) continue straight on Mercer University Drive. (Lanes for
Flowers Road will turn to the right here.) The entrance to
campus is 2/10 mile ahead on the right. After turning in, turn
right at the first "T" intersection (stop sign) and park in the
large lot to your left.
If you are traveling north on I-75 (from Macon)
and do not want to go through downtown, you may take I-675 which
merges with I-285. You will take I-285 North (marked Greenville,
SC) and then follow directions "E" to locate the campus.
B. COMING FROM NORTH OF ATLANTA ON I-85
SOUTH:
Take I-85 South; you will pass the exits for
I-285. Take exit 94, Chamblee-Tucker Road/Mercer University.
Turn left at the traffic light (#1). Get into the right lane, go
over the bridge, and continue straight at the next traffic light
(#2). Following traffic light #2, an additional right lane is
added. If you can, make your way over to this right lane as you
approach the next traffic light (#3). (Note: you can also move
into this lane after traffic light #3. Following traffic light
#3, another additional right lane is extended; this lane is
simply a short-length exit-only lane for Flowers Road.) Turn
right onto Mercer University Drive at next traffic light (#4).
At the next traffic light (#5) continue straight on Mercer
University Drive. (Lanes for Flowers Road will turn to the right
here.) The entrance to campus is 2/10 mile ahead on the right.
Turn right at the first "T" intersection (stop sign) and park in
the large lot to your left.
C. COMING FROM NORTH OF ATLANTA ON I-75
SOUTH:
From I-75 South, take I-285 East (marked
Greenville SC) and proceed for approximately 12 miles. Take exit
33-A for I-85 South to Atlanta. (This exit can be confusing
because it also includes Chamblee-Tucker Road. However, this
exit for Chamblee-Tucker takes you about two miles out of the
way, so please just concentrate on I-85 South to Atlanta.)
Follow the exit lane for I-85 South. (It goes under a couple of
overpasses and curves to the right. As it straightens out, you
will see the I-85 traffic to your left.) You can stay in the far
right lane, because you will be taking the very first exit. Take
exit 34, Chamblee-Tucker Road/Mercer University. Then follow
directions in "B" above from "Take Exit 94."
D COMING FROM WEST OF ATLANTA ON I-20 EAST:
Take I-20 East to I-285. Take I-285 North
(marked Chattanooga, TN). Continue on I-285 for approximately 22
miles. (You will pass the exits for I-75.) Then follow
directions in "C" above from "Take Exit 33-A."
E. COMING FROM EAST OF ATLANTA ON I-20 WEST:
Exit from I-20 West onto I-285 North (marked
Greenville, SC) and proceed for approximately 13 miles. Take
Exit 34, Chamblee-Tucker Road. Turn left at the traffic light
(#1) at the end of the exit ramp. Go across the bridge and
continue straight through the traffic light (#2). Continue
straight through these traffic lights: #3 (McDonald's on right);
#4 (Kroger on right/Buckeye Road); #5 (Embry Circle); #6 (Barkside
Ct.) #7 (Statondale Dr.). Approaching traffic light #8, get
into the left turn lane. Turn left onto Mercer University Drive.
Continue straight through traffic light #9. (Lanes for Flowers
Road will turn right here.) The entrance to campus is 2/10 mile
ahead on the right. Turn right at the first "T" intersection
(stop sign) and park in the large lot to your left.
