Shannon Nicole Swahn is the 2005-2006 recipient of the David
C. Leonard Scholarship award. Shannon graduated from Centennial
High School in Roswell, Georgia and is now attending Clemson
University in South Carolina. Shannon will graduate with a B.S.
degree from Clemson in Graphic Communications and a minor in
Advertising Communications in May 2007. Shannon is a member of
the Technical Association for Graphic Arts and she is treasurer
of her local chapter. She has interned twice at Cadmus
Communications in Charlotte, North Carolina where she has
learned a great deal about the communications and printing
industry. After graduation, Shannon wants to work full-time at
Cadmus, learn more about the industry, and one day start a
communications company of her own.
The Society for Technical Communication has honored the
Atlanta Chapter with the 2002-2003 Chapter of Excellence Award
and the Chapter Pacesetter Award. These prestigious awards were
presented during the Society's 50th Annual Conference, May 18-21
in Dallas, Texas.
The Chapter of Excellence Award citation reads: "For
successfully managing a large number of on-going activities that
improve the quality of technical communication in and around the
Atlanta area."
The Chapter Pacesetter Award citation reads: "For your
strong support of students, especially for working so closely
with the Mercer University student chapter."
The STC Atlanta Chapter's Awards & Recognition program honors the significant contributions
from members in support of the chapter and the field of technical communication.
Recognition is an integral part of our professional development and the STC Atlanta Chapter
presents monthly and annual awards. Nominations can be made by any STC Atlanta Chapter member.
