The STC Atlanta Chapter held its most recent meeting on June 16, 2015. Over 15 people were in attendance to hear the keynote speaker, Joe Broccoli, give a presentation entitled “Get the Job You Want Without a Magic Wand”. Joe Broccoli is an Account Executive at iStaff, a staffing and recruiting firm in Atlanta that specializes in enabling small to mid-sized organizations to compete for premium IT talent. Mr. Broccoli mentioned that many of these smaller companies have had to downsize and combine positions, and he discussed strategies technical communicators can employ to better market themselves to fit these broader job roles. These strategies can include tailoring your resume to fit other position’s requirements, taking advantage of LinkedIn, and having regular contact with a few key, reputable recruiters. As always, the meeting afforded ample opportunities for socializing and networking, along with some great food and refreshments. We hope to see you at our next STC Atlanta Chapter meeting!
